As if all their other methods were not enough, the master strategists of the Congress have thought of a novel, fool-proof method to thwart public support for the Jan Lokpal bill movement.
They have got a female model to threaten to dance naked if the bill isn’t passed.
Brilliant! What better way of ensuring that all males, 14 and upwards, now actively start campaigning for the bill not to be passed?
Who says the Congress leadership lacks strategic depth?

A bill such as this will naturally be opposed by those with vested interests, who will be many.
I would push for eliminating the source – which is excessive, unnecessary regulation. It is the need to licenses, permits, returns etc that puts the power to extract money from citizens in the hands of bureacrats and politicians.
Eliminate the need for the cruicial bit of paper and at a single step eliminate the opportunity for graft. If a license were not needed in the first place how is the politico/bureaucrat going to extract a bribe to issue it? Simplifying regulations will go a long way to eliminating corruption and the best part is that the politicos may not realise the implications of some innocous regulation.
Where licences or permits are actually necessary attempts should be made to move them to e-based (web based or automated systems) with simple clear rules that users can simply get their paperwork done with no human intervention.
Where human intervention is required make the process transparent, get departments/ministries to publish (on a website) the number of applicantions for whatever permit/license needed, the number issued each day and the time taken for issue. Unnecessary delays (a sign of holding things up until a bribe is paid will be highlighted, a long with other inefficiencies).
Make life simpler and it will be better for all.
