“No trial and no exchange on undergarments”
Duh! I should hope not!
The question is, do stores that do not explicitly state this policy allow trials and exchange of underwear?
Interesting question, that. Adds a whole new and sinister dimension to that mild, innocuous itch, doesn’t it? 🙂

Ha ha 🙂

Haha… yes, a whole new dimension. So the stores that do not explicitly state this policy must actually put up a sign saying “Disinfect undergarments in Dettol before use.”

There was a feature on the Today Show on NBC the other day where they return used undergarments under hidden camera. Most stores take the undies back, even the ones that had their tags removed. Then the undercover reporters dabbed some oily stuff on the undies, you know where, and all the stores still took them back and put them straight on the store floor for sale! So there!

hmmm maybe you could try the other way around. Break the rule. Kidding! 😛 😛
March 11, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Ewwww! The very thought!
March 11, 2010 at 7:27 pm
You know what – there are stores here that do allow trying on underwear – scary, isn’t it?
March 11, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Surprisingly – stores do allow trials 🙂 Yes – they do – only on the uppers, not lowers. Think about it! It’s true.

We have reached a stage where everything needs to be explicitly stated 🙂

I don’t mean to put a keeda in your head, but I’ve never really seen a policy saying you can’t return old goods for new stuff 😐

There is one particular store that has TRIAL PIECES that people can use before buying! Yuck!!!
March 12, 2010 at 3:03 am
Hahaha. Eeeks!
I know there are people who live in thrift stores and buy any crap they sell even underwears and used clothes. 😐

A sign I had read outside a toilet in a school:
“Boy’s Toilet (for boys ONLY)”
Don’t know which is more Duh-er! 😉
March 12, 2010 at 2:22 pm
not sure how many people are exchanging inspite of that msg.

Brilliant, Pink Chaddi, Anyone
March 23, 2010 at 9:33 pm
LOL 🙂 OMG Chirag I didn’t think of PCC!! 🙂 But even in Pink Chaddi Campaign new chaddis were bought and sent… but many of those could have been ‘exchanged’ earlier!

there’s this store in baroda, gujarat, that uses the ‘exchange undergarments’ policy as a usp. they proudly state ‘malls won’t exchange them, but we will, so buy from us’.
that store’s off my list but i know some people who go there because of this ‘usp’. duh.
March 15, 2010 at 2:02 pm
hehehe..Brilliant !
March 16, 2010 at 1:28 pm
Imagine a grizly bear walking out of the trial room holding the just tried boxers as you go into it…
March 17, 2010 at 1:04 am
By exchange they mean, do not wear the new one and leave ur unwashed, torn one behind.. :):)
March 19, 2010 at 3:37 pm
lol!
March 20, 2010 at 10:54 am
This is horrible. No trials? Ever? This policy only provides fodder for the terrorists.
If you won’t allow undergarments the protection of due process, you’re just recruiting al Qaeda members.
QI, I’m following you now on twitter as DisgruntledIndy, which is the account connected to my political blog.

ewwww is all I can think of…and coupled with what Rakesh has written about ughhh!
March 27, 2010 at 1:16 pm
@Sakhi: 🙂
@IHM: 🙂
@Sumira: Well, that’s one option!
@Shilpa: Please tell me you made that up!
@jonahaiza: 🙂
@Dreamer: 🙂
@Smitha: Really? And people go there? Scary.
@Kavita: If it’s OK with you, I’d rather not think about it! 🙂
@Clipped.in: I think you’re right. And I needed to explicitly state that…
@Gauri: This post has been quite an educative one….apparently, I was living in some innocent, naive dimension. As so many readers have said, trials and exchanges (fluids and all) seem to be the norm.
@Pal: Trial pieces, huh? Do they ever get to see the inside of a washing machine?
March 27, 2010 at 1:26 pm
@Solilo: I guess I can understand why it happens at thrift stores…..but new stuff? I mean, we shower before we get into the pool, right? 🙂
@Ketan: Just in case there was any ambiguity about who the boys’ toilet was for… 🙂
@Liju: Hmmmm….that’s something to think about!:-)
@Chirag: Muthalik ne to dukaan khol li hogi!
@Anand: That’s as good a USP as any, I guess. As I mentioned earlier, I seem to have been living in this insulated world where such things didn’t happen. Time for QI to wake up!
@Maverickshree: Welcome and thanks!
@Rakesh: You do have a way with words! 🙂
@Vee: I think the latter would be a safer option. 🙂
@Smita: Thanks!
@Supercynic: Good to see you again! Yes, this is exactly the stuff that breeds terrorism. That store was the Gitmo of underwear!
@Indyeah: Ewwww and ughhh? Are you showing off your vocabulary? 🙂
